The Metropolitan Police have released a chilling image of the pink ceramic kitchen knives used during the terror attack on London Bridge and Borough Market last Saturday.
In a statement, Scotland Yard said the 12-inch knives were found near the bodies of Khuram Butt, Rachid Redouane, and Youssef Zaghba after they were shot dead on June 3.
The weapons contributed to the death of eight people, while a further 48 were injured. The terrorists used a hire van to plough into pedestrians on London Bridge before abandoning the vehicle to launch a stabbing spree in Borough Market.

The knive pictured was the one used by Butt. He attached a leather strap to the handle and the weapon was tied around his wrist. Redouane and Zaghba wrapped duck tape around their knife handles.
“We’ve been working round the clock to understand what these men did in the lead-up to the attack but we need to know more about these unusual knives,” said Met Police Commander Dean Haydon. “Where have they come from? Where might the attackers have bought them from?”
Other items were recovered from the scene of the attack. These included two blow torches and wine bottles with rags wrapped around them containing flammable liquid. This could have been for a third wave of the attack.

Police also believe they know the cover story they used to hire the van. A number of office chairs and a suitcase were found, which the terrorists said they were moving on the day of the atrocity.
The trio used a top-floor bedsit in east London as a safe house to plan the attack. It was rented in Redouane’s name. From the flat, police recovered an English-language copy of the Koran opened at a page describing martyrdom.
Police also released a timeline of the attack last Saturday. They said:
- June 3, morning: The attackers attempt to hire a 7.5-tonne lorry online on the day of the attack. They did not, however, provide payment details and the rental did not go ahead.
- June 3, evening: Butt hires a white Renault van, using a recently-activated mobile phone.
- 6.30 p.m. BST: The three men drive a red Corsa to Harrold Hill, Romford, to pick up the van.
- 7.17 p.m. BST: The men arrive at an address in Barking where Zagbha lived. They stay at the property for a while before heading into central London.
- 9.58 p.m. BST: The van travels from north to south on London Bridge. It then turns and heads back in the other direction. Once at the north end, it does a U-turn and heads back southwards down the bridge, hitting pedestrians.
- 10.07 p.m. BST: The van crashes into railings on the south side of London Bridge and is abandoned. The attackers run into Borough Market and stab people.
- 10.08 p.m. BST: Police receive the first call to the incident.
- 10.16 p.m. BST: The attackers are shot dead in a hail of 48 bullets.
Police have now interviewed 262 people from 19 different countries regarding the attack. Detectives have arrested 19 people, six of which remain in custody. The remaining 13 were released with no charge. The latest arrest, of 28-year-old man, was made on Friday night.
